Asus ROG Phone 2 launched with 120Hz HDR AMOLED display and a massive 6,000mAh battery

This year we have seen a couple of gaming-centric devices in the Indian smartphone market which includes Nubia Red Magic 3, and Xiaomi’s Black Shark 2, however all of this consists a high-end spec, but the Asus ROG Phone 2 stands out for its impressive accessories. In this new Asus ROG 2, we found some impressive add-ons tweaks like Aeroactive cooler 2, Aero Case 2, Twin dock 2 and ROG gamepad 2.

Today, Asus ROG Phone 2 launched and bring some new innovative features with it. On the display front, now the  Asus becomes the first phone in the world to feature a 120Hz AMOLED display and has a screen size of 6.59-inch 1,080 x 2,340px resolution. The touch sensor has a 1ms latency and a sampling rate of 240Hz. However, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Asus also claims the touch latency response on ROG Phone 2 is lower than the iPhone XS Max. Apart from that, it’s screen also support HDR 10, which will enhance the gaming experience to a decent extent.

After the discussion on Screen let’s move on towards other parts of the phone, is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset which is an upgrade over regular Snapdragon 855. The CPU of Snapdragon 855 clocked at 2.84GHz and GPU at 585 MHz, whereas the 855 Plus’s CPU clocked at 2.96Hz and GPU at 672 MHz, it indicates that the 855 plus is not a major upgrade over the regular Snapdragon 855, but 15% boost in performance. Adding up to 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage makes it decent enough.

On the optics front, the ROG Phone equipped with dual-lens, the primary sensor is 48MP Sony IMX586 with f/1.79 aperture and the Secondary one is 13MP Ultrawide sensor. The sensor also supports 4k video recording with EIS. Last but not less important, the battery, which is 6,000mAh with fast charging support. Other features include dual vibration motor, dual 5-magnet speakers, quad microphones. 4 Wi-Fi antennas and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Pricing and Availability

The pricing of the phone is not been announced yet, however, it will go on sale on 23rd July in China.
